Whitewashing of commercial greenhouses helps reduce heat stress in crops by reflecting sunlight and enabling a cooler environment inside the greenhouse.

Traditional methods of aerial and manual application have proven costly and come with signifcant health and safety risks.

This trial involved using an XAG P30 drone to spray whitewash over 7ha of commercial greenhouse roofs.

Key findings included:

  • Application was highly consistent
  • Spray drift was reduced compared to traditional aerial spraying
  • Volume of whitewash required was less than used with other methods in the past
